Brake Hoses

A brake hose is a crucial component of your car's braking system. It's a flexible, high-pressure hose that transmits hydraulic fluid from the master cylinder to the brake calipers at each wheel.

Here's a breakdown of how it works:

  1. You press the brake pedal. This forces fluid from the master cylinder into the brake lines.
  2. The brake hoses then carry the fluid from the brake lines to the calipers at each wheel.
  3. The calipers use the pressure of the fluid to squeeze the brake pads against the rotors, which slows down the wheels.

Brake hoses are essential because they allow the wheels to turn while still transmitting hydraulic pressure. Without them, your car's brakes wouldn't work properly.

Because brake hoses are so important, it's essential to have them inspected regularly for signs of wear and tear. If you notice any of the following, it's time to replace your brake hoses:

  • Cracks or bulges in the hose
  • Leaks
  • A spongy brake pedal

Replacing brake hoses is a relatively simple and inexpensive repair. However, it's important to have it done by a qualified mechanic to ensure that your brakes are working safely and properly.
